Strike Martial Arts
Project Brief
Strike Martial Arts is a multi-faceted project who's goal is to teach people the beauty of martial arts. A monthly 'Strike' magazine with each issue dedicated to a different martial art, all with their own colour schemes, including content such as: tutorials, tips, the history of the martial art and interviews with students and masters practicing that fighting style.
The 'Strike' website includes an online class system hosted by masters of all included martial arts from across the world with live class features and pre recorded videos, detailed breakdowns on the history and usage of all fighting styles and a shop to buy all magazine issues.
Problem
Currently, people wanting to learn new martial arts and styles of fighting are limited to the gyms currently open in their cities. Considering the fact that there are so many martial arts in the world and, using data I found while researching this subject, the martial arts studio industry has been going down, the chances someone will be able to find a local gym they can afford that teaches the specific martial art they want to learn are very low. So 'Strike' is meant to be the online and print-based hub for learning martial arts. The problem was making sure that both target audiences are represented in both mediums. The target audiences are people who are already interested in and practicing martial arts and people who are completely new to martial arts who want to learn the basics.
Solution
The website is more beginner friendly actively promoting beginner classes and featuring basic information on each fighting style. The magazine is targeted more towards people currently practicing martial arts and those who truly want to immerse themselves in learning a new fighting style they wouldn't have been able to learn outside of the magazine.
