Illustrated Print Set
Project Brief
This project is a set of three illustrated prints that depict several mythical creatures: the Oni, a Wendigo and the Grim Reaper. The set was created to appeal to a demographic of younger teens who like spooky imagery.
Problem
The problem was creating a consistent illustration style for each print and a logomark for the fictional brand that would publish this set: 'Drop Dead Designs'.
Solution
The freeform, lineless artstyle, analogous colours on the subjects/foregrounds with a complementary colour on the background, white borders and similar use of shapes helped create the system used for the consistency of each individual card. The packaging uses a custom cutout so the buyer can see a card presented in a unique way and they can flip the box to see the other two illustrations that come in the package. The 'Drop Dead Designs' logo was made using the same shape language in the illustrations and the same typeface found on the box.
